Black and White
February 3, 2008 – 12:13 pmSeparate and Apart from our normal Podcasts that devote all of our
time to God and personal instruction in righteousness I offer this
Podcast during Black History Month. This Podcast actually contains a
song that is rather unusual for one of our Podcasts. I belong to the
church of Christ and normally any music would be in a Acappella
Worship style without Music. Let all of us please put all of our many
differences to the side while thinking about this beautiful song and
the words in it written specifically for Black History Month.
Black History Month has a new meaning for me as a Christian than ever
before. Truly one of God’s greatest plans is and was diversity.
However it is one of those things that man keeps messing up for each
other all through History. I will be honest with each and every one
of you. I do not know what it is like to be a Black Person or African
American in these United States of America. Nor am I sure that I
would really want to walk in a Black Person’s shoes for even just a
day. Not because I wouldn’t want to. But I am not sure that I could
handle the stereotyping, the looks, the whispers, etc.
I received this song randomly in the email a couple of days ago and I
have been listening to it. Like it or not the Black and White person
alike have been stitched into a story together by our forefathers and
by people that lived in this Country way before us. To be Honest I am
ashamed of the way that my Country in general has treated all Black
people throughout History. But there isn’t anything that I can do to
change that, right? Or is there?
If there is one theme that keeps re-appearing over and over in the
Bible it is that you shall Love your neighbor as yourself. And……
The Golden Rule, as stated in Matthew 7:12, refers to the law and the
prophets when it says, this is the law and the prophets.
The Golden Rule
_____________________________________________________________
So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for
this is the law and the prophets. (Matthew 7:12 RSV)
Folks I am human. I have been guilty in the past either by silence or
by direct violation of thoughts, speech, etc of violating the Golden
Rule that is mentioned above. It is time to do something about it.
The quotation All men are created equal is arguably the best-known
phrase in any of America’s political documents. Unfortunately we do
not practice what we Preach most of the time.
So today I offer this Post and Podcast and a song called Black and
White in the spirit of Black History Month. And my prayer today is
this. Let us remember the past so we do not have to keep reliving it.
Let’s look forward with hope of a true United States of America.
May God Bless Everyone in this great country of ours and take a moment
at the end of the Black and White song to please say a prayer for our
brother’s and sister’s all over this great country of ours. And for
this great country that we live in.
May God Bless all of us.
